Advertising translation is one of Ampersand’s specialities. It involves the translation of ideas, rather than just words, because the language of advertising seeks to communicate, evoke, suggest, provoke, and ultimately to sell. A literal translation, like those provided by machine translation software, rarely achieves this. The translator needs to convey the original message by finding the right words (cultural references, plays on words, etc.) in accordance with the social and cultural context, in order to generate the same perceptions, feelings and reactions. For these types of projects, our task is that of transcreation, i.e. to combine translation and creativity. We also offer a revision service for final artwork, in which the translator checks that the translated text has been laid out correctly in terms of spelling, grammar and punctuation and that it communicates the advertising message correctly, with regard to the image contained in the ad and the target audience the ad is intended for.
At Ampersand we translate all kinds of advertising content: video ads, audio ads, still images, ads for television, radio and press, and other advertising channels such as billboards, posters, etc. We have a team that specialises in advertising translation for online content, such as Google Ads, Facebook and Instagram Ads and YouTube, and we also translate websites (find out more on this dedicated page), which can also be considered a form of advertising translation. Some of the most common types of content we translate are:
We stand out from competitors who commit to fixed prices and time frames without considering factors that play a vital role in ensuring an accurate and effective translation, such as the repetition rate or the complexity or format of the document.
Send the quote form you will find here or at the bottom of the page, adding your details and the document that is to be translated, and specifying the language you require. If necessary, you can also add a briefing note with any instructions. We will then evaluate your request and get back to you very promptly. In some cases, we may need to call you in order to obtain more information.
The quote we send you will specify the exact price, the agreements reached regarding revisions, the deadline for delivery, and the instructions for confirming the project and making payment via bank transfer. Once we receive the confirmation, we will begin the advertising translation immediately.
In most cases, an advertising translation will consist of the translated text in its entirety, in the format that has been agreed with the client. We will deliver the translation within the agreed time frame via e-mail, in a compressed format or via WeTransfer or a similar service, unless the client prefers another means of delivery.
As well as a mastery of the language of the market for which the ad is intended, we also know its history, cultural references, social media, trends, etc. This enables us to shape, using words and with utmost precision, the ideas that the ad wishes to communicate.
We are extremely flexible with regard to the process of transcreation and can make any revisions, changes or adjustments (or produce any new versions) that the advertising agency may request, to make sure that the end result is entirely to their satisfaction. We assign a single point of contact to each client or project, in order to ensure maximum speed and flexibility.
We know that advertising translation is subject to very strict launch deadlines and that we are handling documents that have not yet been made public. Consequently, we apply the most stringent confidentiality measures and ensure strict compliance with deadlines.
As one of the longest-established translation agencies in Barcelona, we have carried out all kinds of translations for leading companies in every sector, which gives us a privileged insight into the field.
Many advertising translations cannot be quoted for solely on the basis of word count. It is also necessary to take factors such as format, volume, target language and audience, etc. into account when evaluating their complexity and, consequently, the time frames and prices that apply. That is why we request all of this information before preparing a quote.

Our 2,000-plus clients include advertising agencies and the internal advertising departments of large companies of all kinds. These clients have entered into collaboration agreements with Ampersand that are fully adapted to their needs (e.g. product launch schedules, number of revisions, creative leeway, etc.), as well as to their requirements regarding quality and confidentiality. From the very start, we assign a dedicated team to each project and work with the most reliable partners (couriers, consultants, etc.) at both the national and international level.
With Ampersand, no it does not. Unlike agencies that place greater emphasis on creativity than on translation, thereby minimising the work of the translator, at Ampersand we have translators who are trained in advertising, which enables us to adapt to the limits set by the agency that created the original advertising content and deliver a translation that ensures maximum respect for the creator’s idea.
Generally, companies that have created advertising campaigns or have commissioned them. These may include advertising and marketing agencies (including online marketing agencies), any other type of company, and even public institutions.
These types of translations can have very different formats and generally require many more joint revisions with the client, including revisions of the final artwork. Therefore, it is not possible to estimate a time frame without first analysing the material that is to be translated and the needs and objectives of the client requesting the translation.
